About Us
Enhance Care is in incorporated not for profit organisation in Queensland that receives no government funding or direct ongoing government support. Enhance Care is overseen by a voluntary Board of Management made up of local people who come from all walks of life and represent a variety of age groups and cultures.
It was founded in 1987 as the Deception Bay Burpengary Narangba Welfare Council and later became known as Near North Housing Service while delivering the Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service to the Moreton Bay Region and the northern suburbs of Brisbane.
When funding for the Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service was ceased by the Queensland government the organisation became known as Enhance Care Inc and remains known as this today.
Enhance Care commenced providing disability support and managing the Caboolture Memorial Hall for the then Moreton Bay Regional Council later to take on the management of both Donnybrook Community Hall and the Wamuran Sports Complex Hall.
During this time Enhance Care also provided services to the Queensland Department of State Development at the new Fitzgibbon Chase Community Hall and auspiced the Green Team which was a volunteer group established to undertake a range of projects to enhance the environment in the new Fitzgibbon Chase development.
We worked with the Green Team and the Department of State Development to establish the Fitzgibbon Chase Community Garden which was highly successful.
Enhance Care also undertook a large number of Work for the Dole group activities assisting other smaller organisations to improve their facilities or developed projects that assisted both unemployed young people and the local community. We are very proud of the work we undertook with participants of the projects and how they benefited not only participants but the local community as well.
With the introduction of NDIS the Board of Management decided that it was too large a financial risk for a small organisation such as ours and ceased providing disability support.
Enhance Care continued to operate social enterprises such as cafes, a coffee shop and even a licensed restaurant to continue to allow us to operate, give employment opportunities and develop free services to the local community.
With the introduction and funding of QSTARS (Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service) by the Queensland government we commenced our partnership with the funded organisation Tenant Queensland whom we had a very long association with and were contracted to provide QSTARS assistance to the Moreton Bay Region.
We gratefully acknowledge our partner, Tenants Queensland for allowing us to continue to provide advice and support to residential tenants in the Moreton Bay Region.
During this time we have developed a range of projects and programs that connect people in communities.
Our current projects are:
